What goes into one of the province’s priciest doughnuts? The owners of Kelowna’s Dolicious Donuts will tell you it’s gold, diamonds and of course, lots of chocolate.
For $100 apiece, the sweet treat is made up of 24 carat gold, diamonds, chocolate aged balsamic vinegar, ice wine. The remaining ingredients are top secret. And yes, it’s all edible.
Co-owner Christopher Cruz says he wanted to produce a doughnut that’s unique. “The reason behind it is I don’t think it’s been done — not that we know of. So it’s most likely B.C.’s only $100 doughnut, possibly Canada’s only $100 doughnut,” he says.
Cruz says customers wanting to buy the doughnut must place an order 24 hours in advance. The decadent doughnut was unveiled Saturday at the grand re-opening of the longtime bakery.
For 40 years it had been known as Vineyard Bakery and Deli, but got their new name this weekend.
