Nk’Mip Cellars (Pronounced in-ka-meep) is North America’s first Aboriginal owned and operated winery, featuring premium award-winning VQA wines and locally inspired cuisine in a dramatic setting overlooking Lake Osoyoos in the Thompson, Okanagan.
The 18,000 square foot winery has the capacity to produce 18,000 cases or 162,000 litres. The winery is equipped to handle approximately 60% red grapes and 40% white. The varietals currently produced are Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Riesling Icewine and a blended Meritage. These grapes come from the Band’s own Inkameep Vineyard as well as the vineyard located adjacent to the winery.
The Band shares its history and traditions with those who visit the winery. Tour experiences at the winery at Nk’Mip Resort are enhanced through the architecture, designed and constructed to display native art and artifacts, and enhance the beauty and unique nature of the wild sage desert surroundings.
The winery features a seasonal patio where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the breathtaking views from the winery while enjoying the locally sourced gourmet cuisine straight from the in house kitchen.
If you are in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit (www.nkmipcellars.com)!
